Call for Entries - Chicago International Childrens Film Festival
Now in its 29th year, the CICFF is the oldest and largest children's film festival in the US. It was also the world's first Academy Award qualifying children's film festival. (The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore, which screened at last year's Festival, has just been nominated for a best animated short film Oscar.) The Festival is adjudicated by two juries: an adult jury and a children's jury.
In 2011, over 230 films from 42 countries were screened for approximately 25,000 children, parents, and teachers and 100 filmmakers. Films are presented at multiple venues throughout the Chicago area. The Festival includes participatory programs for children as well as professional development opportunities for filmmakers and attendees.
The CICFF has earned an international reputation for presenting the very best in children's media from around the world. The festival advocates inspired, innovative programming for kids. We are seeking humanistic, culturally diverse, and compelling films that reveal the world in new ways and leave room for the child's own imaginative response.

Women filmmakers! Call for entries for the Bluestocking Film Series!
The Bluestocking Film Series is a showcase for short films directed by and about women. Because women filmmakers and women's stories are under-represented in the filmmaking industry and largely misrepresented in forms of media worldwide, we are thrilled to create a screening series in Maine that supports women filmmakers and provides a state of the art venue to showcase their craft. Visit http://bluestockingfilms.com for more information and to submit via Withoutabox.
To be considered:
1. Short films of all genres not exceeding 10 min. in length will be considered.
2. The director of the film must self-identify as a woman and any co-director must also be a woman.
3. The film must pass the ‘Bechdel Test for Women in Movies’* which is as follows:
Are there 2 or more women in it who have names?
*If the film doesn't have human beings (or anthropomorphic non-humans) in it, the Bechdel Test standard is inapplicable and will not be a basis for disqualification.

Call for Entries: 2012 DC Shorts Film Festival and Screenwriting Competitions
DC Shorts showcases the largest audience-driven collection of short films in the USA. Now in our 9th year, we expect hundreds of filmmakers and thousands of audience members mix, mingle and explore the world of short cinema.
DC Shorts is unique among film festivals, as we entries to read the feedback and scores from the judging panels — a point which impressed MovieMaker Magazine to name us as “one of 20 festivals worth an entry fee,” and “one of the leading film festivals” in the country — year after year!
The DC Shorts Film Festival (September 6-16, 2012) turns the spotlight on truly independent short films, created by new and established filmmakers in an era when the art of filmmaking is opening to all. We select films of every genre and niche for our competition screenings — with a special focus on films created by metropolitan Washington, DC-based directors and writers. After each screening, filmmakers have the opportunity to speak to the audience as part of a moderated panel.

The DC Shorts Screenplay Competition (October 2012) is a very different kind of screenwriting competition. A panel of judges consisting of filmmakers, screenwriters and critics will review and provide coverage (feedback) for scripts of 15 pages or less. 5-7 finalists will be featured during ScriptDC — the region’s largest screenwriting conference — where their scripts will be read in front of a live audience — and one will walk away with $2,000 to shoot their project! If the script is shot and completed by the deadline, it will be automatically included as an official selection for the 2013 DC Shorts Film Festival.
